About Us

NaloxAware is a youth-led nonprofit aimed at removing the stigmatization surrounding substance use and addiction. Founded in a city with one of the highest overdose rates, NaloxAware recognized the polarization of substance use and the lack of educational awareness surrounding recovery pathways. In hopes to stop the perpetuation of social perceptions that hinder recovery, NaloxAware intends to launch educational campaigns via multimedia and engaging seminars to help our future leaders understand the human side of both use and recovery.

Our Name

Where was “NaloxAware” derived from?

NaloxAware was inspired by the life saving drug naloxone, which temporarily reverses the effects of an opioid overdose to provide extra life-saving minutes for health officials to arrive on scene. This important drug provides many with a second chance at life—an opportunity we hope to create with awareness. Hence, “Naloxone” was combined with “Awareness” to derive the term “NaloxAware”

Our Mission

As passionate young minds continue to emerge as leaders across the world, NaloxAware wants to ensure that future leaders retain harm reduction knowledge and proper insight into the real experiences of substance use, as well as the understanding of how uncontrollable environmental factors contribute to substance use.
